THE ROTARY CLUB of MONIFIETH and DISTRICT WASH EXPERIENCE
Rotary Club of Monifieth and District supported 3 Wash projects in northeast India in partnership with the Rotary Club of Calcutta. WASH 1 helping villagers in West Bengal showed us that dirty pond water is typically the only water supply for most villages. Together since then we have helped fund more than 40 bore wells and 400 toilets in 15 villages.
The Rotary Club of Monifieth and District (District 1010 Scotland North) have submitted these photographs for the People of WASH competition – April 2021. The photographs were taken during the visit of our Rotarians Hugh Begg and Nick Day to West Bengal in January and February 2016 hosted by our Rotary Global Grant partners the Rotary Club of Calcutta.
The photographs below show work in progress and our experiences visiting villages in West Bengal as part of our first WASH project with RC Calcutta.

Our club has now supported 3 WASH projects, twice as lead international partner. We have helped fund over 400 toilets and more than 40 bore wells making 15 villages open defecation free so creating much needed social and economic benefits for local people.
